A Phantom my Vera

There has been a ghost in my house turning on my sprinklers.

Well, I realized that I had left tech support access on in one of my Vera Lites, so I closed off access. We’ll see if this solves the issue.

Any other ideas what may be causing this on my EtherRain8? I cannot find the demon.

Have you checked the logs around the time it was reported going off ?

What do you have set up as a trigger for it? e.g time ?

I only have one trigger which is a PLEG routine. In that routine, I also included a HomeWave push notification so I know if the device was triggered with the PLEG. The phantom is not a result of the PLEG. There are no other triggers. Since I turned off support access, no events occurred yet.

Well, it happened again this evening.

What exactly have you set as the trigger for that PLEG routine?

Scheduled to go on two hours before sunrise. Last night the EtherRain 8 started around 21:45.

The USB has my AD2USB in it so verbose logging was off on the unit. I turned it on with “Archive to the server” so perhaps I can get the MCV folks to help out.

Look at your logs. If need be go back several minutes prior to the sprinkler turn on. There is most likely a scene running that is causing this action.

I realize that you stated that you don’t have a scene for this, but sometimes one might accidentally click a device within a scene that is completely unrelated and not even realize it.

Not that this has ever happened to me, of course. But, I’ve “heard” of this repeatedly happening to “a friend of mine”.

I’m going to review every scene, again. I don’t have many anymore because I’m mainly using PLEG for the day to day running of the house.

My problem is that my AD2USB is plugged into that unit, don’t have access to the logs there.

I gotta put a hub on that and start logging if I cannot find this demon.

I’ve noticed that when Vera looses communications with the EtherRain unit Vera indicates the Etherain is On.

there is a thought. Loose ethernet connection perhaps. I’ll check that out.

THANKS!

In my case I am using a wireless bridge to connect the EtherRain to my home network. Periodically the wireless connection between the bridge and my main wireless router would drop out. When this occurred Vera indicated an On state for the EtherRain.
