4 way dimmer-acting strangely

Hi,

I have a 4 switch dimmer-one “master” and 3 “slaves”. Switch 1 is the master, 2,3, and 4 the slaves. After pushing switch #1 and/or #3, the lights turn on and off and dim properly. Switches 2 & 4 , on the other hand, have really long delays (up to 10 seconds) in turning on and off. This is a manual issue, and not a scene control issue.

Any ideas on what might be causing this delay on 2 of the switches?

Thanks.

Who is the manufacturer of the Switch? If it is Leviton which companion switch are you using LED or No LED?

Here are the instructions for wiring their companion switches: http://www.smarthome-products.com/productspecs/Instruction_Sheet_VP00R_VP0SR.PDF

They are all Levitons, and all have LED’s.

I have the instructions, and my electrician installed each of them accordingly.

They work, but 2 of them are delayed.

Just for my clarification- the slaves don’t interface w/ the Vera directly, correct? My assumption is that they just talk to the master.

Correct - the companion switches only talk to the Master switch ;D

Any clue as to the delay?

some update for those of you that care…

My electrician spoke to his Leviton rep today and explained the situation. He was told that the switches “learn” the best routing to the master and get better over time. Indeed, today’s delay is minimal- 1 second to almost negligible.

I was under the impression that the slaves and master work independently of the Zwave system. From the explanation-and today’s results-it looks like they are all intertwined. I wonder how it would work if these switches were the only switches in the residence? (of course, why would you pay extra for them in that case…).

The remote switches communicate but are not RF. They communicate using the Yellow wire.

What then explains the delay (and subsequent delay reduction)?
