zwave repeater

I’ve hunted all over the web and can’t seem to find anything other than current zwave equipment acting as a repeater but I was curious if there was some type of standalone equipment that would act as a zwave repeater?

or

is there a way to actually bridge two vera’s and have them act as one as far as the zwave network goes?

You can have multiple Veras. See instruction at http://docs2.mios.com/doc.php?page=multiple_mios. ZWave uses mesh networking. Therefore, all devices can provide act as repeater within their limited range. If there is a limited by the distant being too great or physical barriers (wall etc) then a separate unit would overcome this.

have you done anything like this? I was reading thru the docs page and it looks pretty straight forward but was wondering if there was any downside to it.

No, I haven’t done this with multiple Vera units. I did similar with Vera and home seer. It worked fine. I wish I had of used multiple Vera as it is a cheaper option.
