ZTS-110 Anticipation or cycle rate?

Now that I am in heating season, I notice the furnace staying on for extended times during warm up in the morning, and then it overshoots. In short the thermostat seems to do a lousy job of control. Does anyone know if this thermostat has cycle rate function? At this point does not seem to be controlling well

I was hoping someone might have an idea on this. Based on the issues, I will likely be switching to a Honeywell or Trane unit.

I bought a Honeywell WiFi thermostat and could not be happier. Temperature control is much better.

I have the zts-110. Since you appear to have already replaced it I guess this post is moot. But the default programming mode had odd ball settings with swing and differential that I never liked. So I turned all the advanced stuff off. I don’t use it, I just set what I want when I want but each person has different needs.

Yes, but the darn thing would just run the furnace full blast until it got to set point. That is not what normal thermostats do. Old thermostats had a little heating wire called an anticipator which would shut the furnace off prior to reaching set point so you don’t overshoot. Better thermostats have a cycle rate setting which controls the run time. I suspect that with a high efficiency furnace it might be fine, but with my old clunker it caused problems.

Ahh I see. Ok.

I have noticed that vera is no longer selling them. Could be another reason. The other issue I had was battery life, and ended up running a new thermostat wire with a common. At least it made it easier to install Honeywell Wifi when I made the switch.

I never used it on battery, actually I refused to. I can’t remeber, think I had a common wire but the instructions suck and had to get a friend to help. After thay and to date I have had no issues with it.

I bought one at www.zwaveproducts.com, it is working fine.
