I see vera has IR code capacities, however I do not know of any device (IN EUROPE) that seems to be able to send infrared orders from Vera (or vera controllers) to my home cinema.
There is of course the SQ Blaster device from the guys who did the great SQ Remote, however this systems bypasses Vera, which defeats the purpose of the One-for-All home automation system.
Thanks Jod, interesting indeed (although distribution in Europe seems light). So do you simply use it as another network device that Vera can communicate with, or with a serial port?
Thanks I think that’s enough to convince me for the SQ Blaster: potential of full Vera integration…and fallback on the user-friendly “SQ Remoter>Blaster” path if my geekitude isn’t enough
I see Vera is working (among many things) on better integration…my only fear is learning new codes (being in Europe, I fear the IR DB won’t be enough. Though I do have all IR codes from my Pronto, the Luup stuff just scares me a bit ;D
MCV is supposed to be building their own puck plugin which can use the inbuilt code database!
Also as a plus, it looks like they did some work on the IR / remote builder for the new TrickTV stuff that looks like it makes AV plugin building easier!? Worst case scenario is that a plugin can be built, or an existing one hacked for any of the AV stuff you may own, and it actually isn’t very complicated
