I just purchased this Z-Wave Smoke Detector (NO LOGO by MonoPrice) on Amazon and similarly to the First-Alert smoke-detector, it does not work with vera UI5. My vera controller detected it and installed it properly (without manually modifying the implementation-file), but similarly to the First-Alert Smoke-Detector, the trigger are NOT recognized by UI5
It works well with vera UI7, it installs easily, (I used the “First-Alert” option to set it up) and my vera-edge immediately recognized it. And when I press the TEST button on the Smoke Detector, I see that the icon on my dashboard becomes “red” and my “Smoke” scene gets triggered.
Hi,
This is Bhanu, I would like to know about difference between arduino and Zwave shield and what if arduino is compatible with zwave shield. Please give me info. bout this.
Bringing an old topic back up:
When you triggered your detector and it showed as being in alert mode on the Vera, how did you get it out of alert mode? Mine are all stuck in alert mode from where I tested them.
I am on ui5 with a vera and mine works fine. I set up a notification when tripped and it works fine. Consecutive tests require about a minute for it to reset.
Vera 3, UI5 (1.5.672)
Same here. I have eight of them throughout the house, all trigger Vera just fine, all reset when clear, all work with ImperiHome fine. I have a notification set to alert all the family smartphones giving which device whenever they trip and they all work just fine.
I did nothing special to install them and all are managed by a PLEG.
Because I think the smoke detectors are particularly important I also have a “Wake Up Failed” notification configured if any of them fail to wake up and talk to Vera every hour (internal wake up is 1800 seconds but I give them 3600, two cycles, just to be safe.)
oh, that’s a good one. I set up notifications for battery levels but didn’t think to add a presence check. I will do that for my lock & door sensor too.

Are you using pleg or a scene to pull that off?[/quote]
I don’t use Vera Scenes, everything is done in PLEGs.
Hi, i have veralite UI5 firmware 1.5.622, trying to include two smoke detector purchased from monoprice, installed the battery and kept vera in include more and it showed up as generic one , both get included but it display only the battery power and no other detail, even when i pressed \test button on smoke detector then it beeps but no UI change, when ever i click on poll now/stress test/configure node, i get “Delivery failed” alert, it shows

As I said, I have eight of them installed under UI5 Vers 1.5.672 NOT 1.5.622. They installed and worked fine with a few anomalies.
The detector sounds in pulses not continuously. Every time it pulses it send a Tripped indication to Vera so you get multiple tripped indications. If you do what I did and use the tripped to send an SMS to my phone then you will get one SMS for each time it pulses. So I implemented a PLEG counter to prevent multiple notifications. When the first pulse occurs it increments a counter in PLEG. The next time it pulses PLEG examines the counter and if it is >=1 then it suppresses the notification. Thus I only get one SMS for each smoke event.
I found that the detector remained tripped in Vera. Others have reported that it remains set but clears after a minute or two. I found you can force clear it by pressing the detector’s “Test” button. It will “chirp” three times and clear the tripped indication. Or maybe you can wait, I didn’t
