Looking for suggestions for the smallest possible z-wave door and window sensors. What is out there now can hardly be hidden.
Thanks

So, smaller than the Everspring HSM02?
Yes, looking for an in-door type that can be completely concealed. Also need a long battery life, my current GE units have a 5-10 year battery life.
You will find a hard time finding something that will fit your criteria for zwave. Your better off with integrating an alarm system, like the dsc.
Yup, form factor, battery life and price may all be in favor of a dedicated security system, tied in with Vera. But perhaps there’s something Z-Wave out there. I’m not aware of a Z-Wave device that claims 2+ years of battery life though.
Reason I went with an alarm panel. To use the cheap long lasting sensors. Especially the concealed ones for the doors and windows that go in the jam.
and which alarm is fully interactive with Vera and vise-verse?
DSC Powerseries 1616, 1832, or 1864. Vera has full control of the panel.
thanks
What is needed to connect the vera to these systems? Asking for both the Vera side and DSC side.
To interface the dsc panel to Vera you would use either a it100 board made by dsc with a usb to serial adapter or a wiznet serial to ethernet board. Or you can use an Eyez-on 2DS/3DS interface board.
Then there is a Vera plug-in to communicate?
Yup, the most popular topic on the forum.
I think it should be possible to build a robust system using wired sensors in window outside frames and magnets hidden in inside frames. This could be attached to Fibaro universal sensor that supports two binary sensors.
