Z-wave Devices not removed after exclusion?

Hi

I’ve tried to remove a couple of z-wave devices, by excluding them but they did not disappear from the UI? Even if I delete them, they reappear ?

The latter suggests that Vera is not removing them? What’s worse is that it the original create/add process created two instances of one of the devices, when it should only create one?

The UUID on the duplicate node/device has just a single character difference??

ur on 622 ?
i recently excluded a malfunctioning z-wave switch and it was removed ok.

If the device is functional and it is excluded, it will not re-appear. It sounds like the device is not excluding and is retaining the homeID and thus participating in the Z-Wave network. If you are using the exclude button to exclude the device, try excluding with the include button. Also, the device may have a reset capability that you could use.

When all else fails, here’s the hammer

well it was functional but i blew out the 220v part hehe… it excluded ok though.
ma coffeemachine survived thank god

Thanks all, nothing worked for me, so in the end I had to restore the z-wave network from the back up and try again. They seemed to add ok this time around.

I do still have a plugin (dataMine) that won’t remove is there a bit of code for that too?

you might want to ask chris for that. have to delete the dir on usb by hand i guess. or wipe the whole thing.

Does that approach actually correctly exclude the registration of a z-wave node? or does it just delete the visual device representation?

i dont think so… just the visual device presentation which will come back as soon as the vera reboots or the z-wave device comes back online. not sure though but if it doesnt come back it works. if it does come back then it didnt.

excluding the non-working :stuck_out_tongue:

I originally posted my problem in the Lock specific section/thread here:

Maybe here somebody can help me - I got 2 ghost lock devices from trying to add Schlage lock and can’t remove them. I tried every suggestion I could find on this forum. Any help? Thanks.

I have a Leviton dimmer switch that was accidentally reset BEFORE it was excluded from the network. Vera, obviously, could no longer control the switch.

I excluded the switch from the network, then included the switch. A new dimmer appeared on the dashboard that controls the light perfectly.

But after a refresh, a phantom dimmer switch appears that I cannot permanently delete. I tried using the URL method described here: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=16521.0, but it keeps coming back.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of the phantom device?

I have had the same problem, with deleting devices and they come back. What I found to work is delete them, reload vera, and as soon as they they show up delete them. I found if they are not fully shown in the UI and you delete them, they will not come back. If all the graphics is there they will come back. I have had this issue with a few of my thermostats, and after a lot of trying that was the only way to get rid of phantom devices permanently.

Try to Delete the device and the ReBoot, not just refresh the browser.

Hitting the trashcan icon as soon as the phantom device reappeared seems to have worked. It’s gone. Even after a reboot. Thanks much!
