Yale Keyfree + Homewave remote getting more and more unreliable

I have been having an issue with Homewave randomly and frequently not working to open the lock or showing the lock open when it’s locked or locked when it’s open and generally not responding. So, I have to open the door manually more and more often which makes Homewave less and less useful.

There could be many causes to these issues. It could be flaws in the Homehave app. It could be problems at whatever server is being used by Homewave or Micasaverde to connect to the Veralite over the Internet. It could also be something wrong with the Yale lock.
Wireless and Internet access is working at the time, so it doesn’t appear to be a home network or ISP issue.

Are there backend server problems at Micasaverde or Homewave that could cause remote access through the app to frequently stop working?
Are there any firmware updates for the Veralite or Yale lock that need to be manually appled that will make it more reliable?
I notice the Veralite reboots itself quite often. Seems like almost every day I get an alert the the Veralite rebooted.

Also, is there any iOS or Android app that will work over the local wifi so that it doesn’t depend on remote servers being up and running? Actually, the Internet access feature to control the lock is not important to me and I would probably feel more safe if it only worked when my phone was on the local wireless network. I can pick up the wireless signal from outside the door. I don’t really need to unlock the door when I’m miles away from home.
