x10 option in vera

I bought a vera this weekend and noticed a X10 option in it.
My question is actually very simple.

Can i control a X10 device directly from the vera as a zwave device?

So can I buy a x10 thermostat or wall socket and without any extra devices control this x10 device?

I ask this because x10 is more used here in the EU and some kind of devices are not available here (ex: thermostat etc).

Hope someone can advise how this works.

The simple answer is No.
You first need additional hardware which was working in UI4 using 2414U (now discontinued)
The replacement for the 2414U is 2413U which as of today does not work with Vera.

I don’t think it is that simple. First off, the device discontinued was the 2412U (not the 2414U). The replacement product, 2413U does work with Vera and controls some X-10 devices using UI4. I’m using the 2413U with Vera to control some X-10 light switches. Having said that, I have no knowledge of whether it will work with an X-10 thermostat. More likely no, but until someone actually tries it, I don’t think we have any concrete evidence either way.

yovinman,

You are correct in that the 2412U is discontinued & the replacement is the 2413U. Vera cant use the 2414U.

As usual JOD is right. I think 2414u is MAC product.
Just got 2413u and it works at least with basic X10 devices.

Will 2413U work with UI2?

I personally could not get my Vera2 to work with the 2413U in UI2. Every time I tried to connect the 2413U to the Vera2’s USB port, the Vera2 would sit for a few minutes and then hang (i.e. become unresponsive). When I went to UI4, the 2413U was recognized and it worked much better. Others may have had more luck in UI2.
