X-10 now reports to Vera

Vera is now reporting and keeping the status of an X-10 device, both via dashboard and iPhone.

I’ll do some testing this weekend to see if an X-10 device will execute a scene and toggle a Z-Wave device.

If so, this will open a new avenue for sensory inputs.

JOD.

Which firmware version are you using? ::slight_smile:

off to go find me a beta version… ;D

It also takes SOME of the complexity out of setting up a state device or flag.

You can just make random x10 id’s and use them for home/away, night/day, vacation/no vacation, etc…

It’s ver 1.1.1086 which also supports the Aeon HEM.
One of my driveway X-10 motion sensors just tripped and it updated on the dashboard.

JOD.

Cool. Sadly, our new house has proven to be X10-proof, which is why we’re on to Vera and Z-wave. If anyone has house wiring that is amenable to X10 and is interested, we have an assortment of X10 switches, modules, CM11A and equivalents that I would part with cheaply. I even have a hardly-used ELK X10 signal meter that I was using to debug using stuff in the new house before I gave up. If you’re interested, drop me a note.

Where does one go to get this version of the firmware? Sounds like the X-10 functionality is greatly improved with this release.

Mike, I haven’t seen your mail–and it’s been a few hours. I’ve checked and it doesn’t look like it gotten eaten by any sort of spam filter. You might try again, if you don’t mind.

PM sent, let’s see how that works.

So JOD, does this mean that if someone turns off an X-10 light switch manually, this change of status will be show up on the MIOS dashboard? If so, that would be very cool.

not unless the x-10 light was the kind that transmits a change (not many did)- BUT what you can do is use an x-10 controller/remote to send a command to the light to turn off and the insteon controller ‘hears’ the command on the line and updates vera.

There are many x-10 devices that can send such commands- as an example you can get a motion detector that would send an ‘on’ command to a particular device. You can make a bogus x-10 device in vera- say device I1 and call it “intruder”- then you set the x-10 motion sensor to send an on command to device i1. If the x-10 sensor sends the on command to i1 then the vera will show the “intruder” device to on. and you could then setup a scene that turns on all the lights in your house when the “intruder” device is on.

JOD- can you delete an X10 device after you create it?

I can delete from the devices advances tab- scroll down and find the delete button.

But if I try to click the trash icon it just says command successful but does nothing.

michaelk,

Yes you can, just click the delete button at the bottom of the Advanced tab.
The device should disappear. Try Ctrl F5 if not.

JOD.

yep- that way works but for me at least if I click the trash button up top in UI4 it doesn’t delete. (top right corner is x to close, question mark for help then trash can to delete.

For other devices on UI4 the trashcan works for me to delete- but doesn’t seem to work for x-10.

Before i submitted a bug i wanted to see if anyone else saw the same thing.
