Mike,
Great stuff. You’ve definitely got a lot of stuff going on there. What’s the draw for all that?
Did you decide against a single/larger UPS unit, or did you just grow it incrementally over time?

I would assume that duck work is attached to your ac vent? I can imagine how warm that cabinet can get.
Have never checked the powerdraw on this yet, but I guess it would be interesting to know.
The boxes in there are all running Windows Home Server and using WD 5400 Eco Green drives.
In regards to the UPS, they just started to grow with the set-up, as I found that one UPS is a single point of failure for the entire rack, but I have stuck with APC.
Now what would be nice in there was a rack mount unit available for a Vera or a rackmount design.

Hi Garret,
The Duct work is actually 100mm extract unit which acts as a boost unit. The Cabinet has 4 x 100mm fans ducting straight up, and in the ceiling space there is an additional 2 x 100mm duct units which then pass the hot air from the Cabinet along with the office/den unit and the Power Unit in the hall way along several metres of ducting and out to the outside world.
On a good day the Cabinet temperture sits at about 22oC.
The Extrator vents and cooling is all controlled by my Vera II box.
Any recommendations are much appreciated.
None of you guys have got a patch (excuse the pun) on these guys:

You’re right and I think the last site got it right “it disasters”, I would hate to do the network diagram on that one. Maybe just a bowl of spaghetti thrown on paper would describe it.
Here’s my currently disorganized test bed.
I’ve got 3 alarms for testing (Paradox, DSC, Honeywell)
Cable Modem, router, GigE switch, Vera lite, Synology 4 bay NAS, an 1100VA UPS.
Next to add is a VoIP gateway. My stuff is constantly disorganized and a mess. I like some of these other set ups people do. So much cleaner than my crap.
Also still a WIP, but here’s my setup.
Finally I’ve purchased a small UPS for my Vera and stuff but …
I have 2 shelfs on the wall for this and a media cabinet, but it’s full of all kind of equipment and cables. IT’S FULL! It doesn’t look like this in my friends houses, I don’t know how they can manage without it.
How does it look at your site?

I’m surprised you are getting any kind of Wi Fi signal out having the Vera and router jammed in around all that AC stuff!
