I realize that Vera is all about wireless system, but it happens that I do have cabling to 22 of my blinds already in the walls. I wonder id I could use it. For that I need a relay board that is supported by Vera, with as much 230V relays as possible. Something similar to the EtherRain just for 240V. Is there such a device with community support from Vera?
So far I found one small board that has 5 relays and Eth port and is controller over the SNMP. It is cheap at around 50 USD, and here is some info on it ftp://ftp.wirelesslan.pl/man_lan_en.pdf. Is there any support in VERA for controlling devices over SNMP?
Thanks for the info!
The NCD board with 32 relays look sweet but is a bit steep at 650 USD.
The 4 relay serial board is best price, but I’m not sure if the Vera would handle 12 of those connected over USB? as I need 44 relays for 22 blinds
I have no problem with driving the separate relays from some other board. In fact this is my alternative design with PLC and 3 x 16 output slices. That is also very economical, as quality relays are around 5.5 Euro each.
If not relays maybe you can give me some leads to the I/O bords that have lot output ports for driving the relays.
I have no personal experience with them, but there are a number of people on ebay selling ethernet controlled 16 relay boards for about $140. Search for “Ethernet 16 Relay Module” or similar. One of the companies is http://denkovi.com/.
They claim the relays are rated at 10A/250VAC.
I would expect that it would be pretty easy to get that working with Vera, but you might have to write a little code.
what to you think about it ?
I think it’s better to have only one board instead of two parts, and there is a case too.
the price sounds good if you see specifications.
You cant beet denkovi solution on the price at 135 usd per 16 ports and already in EU so cheap delivery.
2 boards setup is a bit clumsy but since I need 44 relays I’ll make economy on the numbers of boards itself requiring only 3 sets not 6 as for 8relay boards.
