Window Open sensor.

I am looking for a simple sensor that tells me if windows and doors are open/closed. I have a VeraLite and connect to that via our smartphones using SQRemote. I want to produce a simple display that identifies that windows are closed or open. I would need quite a few of these so maintenance and initial cost are important factors.

Thank-you.

I’m very worry by zwave compatibility products…I think each brand is creating your own controller and turning the things difficulty to integrate your appliances, switches, dimmers, etc with anothers brands of controllers…i.e. my recently bought leviton 2 loads switch what to integrate to vera is very hard and difficulty. but in the box is written: speaks zwave !!!

this item I think is compatible YET with vera…I will buy this for my project…

Do not is enough have a good controller…you must have caution with the devices you will install.

For this type of purpose where there are many, it’s better and more reliable to do it with an alarm system that’s interfaced with Vera. If you can use hard wired sensors then its very cheap, otherwise battery powered alarm sensors are cheaper, more reliable and the batteries last for a lot longer.

Any recommendations on which alarm systems to look at?

There is a wealth of information on alarm systems in this forum. If DSC is available in your country, I would look into the DSC PowerSeries 1816, 1832, or 1864.

hello !

How can I build a panel in SQremote or another tool to view the status of all window sensor in a big house…to monitor what window is forget open…

thanks…

HomeWave (iOS) allows a 4x6 grid on a single page. I have our security sensors spread on those; one page per alarm partition. If you don’t see all green rings, a window (or door etc.) is left open.

To ipad this app not available, only iphone. I think is very good app but why do not run in ipad?

I run it in 2x mode for now. Works fine; I actually find it easier to control a dimmer that way, because of the bigger size (I cram quite a bit of controls on a single control screen).
