Will adding multiple Vera lites help with scene controller reliability?

Running Veralite 1.5.408 firmware. I am trying to control Leviton outlets and switches with a Leviton scene controller (VRCZ4-MOZ). Despite no node being located more than 20 feet from each other with maximum of one wall, I cannot get the scene controller to reliably control the switches/outlets. The loads closest to the scene controller work the most reliably, while those that are more remote (although well within expected range of another node - and there are only 3 nodes) work poorly - even if I can get them to configure properly (which is a bit of a crapshoot -works sometimes, not others).

Executing same scenes from browser interface works much better - all nodes almost always fire. A previous poster suggested that the Leviton scene controller sends commands directly to the loads - not via the vera box - so results from executing the same scene from the controller might well differ from the results from executing the scene from the browser/vera unit.

So, on to my question - I was thinking that I might improve reliability by adding a second vera unit so that all of my loads are well within range and report good signal quality (seems ironic that I’m even considering doing this given it’s supposed to be a mesh network - but it has been my experience that I am getting much better range from the vera unit than from any of the nodes - possibly due to metal wall boxes or other obstructions?).

However, if the scene controller is going to try to run these scenes directly, then would this even matter? Or would the scene controller have to execute through the vera unit which has hardware devices associated with it?

I have put countless hours into a very simple setup with plans to add complexity if I could gain confidence. I have asked Micasaverde support this question, but have received no reply. Can the community help? Ready to trash the whole thing and revert to X-10, which although not perfect, was working far more reliably than I’ve been able to achieve with Vera.

I have two switches installed - both are model Leviton VRS15-LZ. I also have a Leviton VRCS4-MOZ scene controller. I created 4 scenes to turn on and off the two leviton switches. When the scenes are run from the PC interface, both work fine. However, when I assign the scenes to the buttons on the Leviton scene controller, it only works with one of the switches. I have run a repair/heal on the system and everything otherwise looks fine.
Any thoughts on the cause of this would be appreciated.

@PurdueGuy had suggested to put a 1 second delay in the scene, so that Vera will run the scene, rather than the controller. You could try that and see if it makes things behave better or worse.
(Some problems with scene controllers have been reported with 1.5.408.) Also, you could try to re-include the controller (i.e. include again, without excluding).

Thanks for the tip. Seems to be working better. Will verify over the next few days.

Just an update. The system is working with good reliability. Thanks again for the tip.

Hey rcr9,

I have a situation where I am having great trouble getting the same scene controller to work at all. do you have any tips?

I have added it to my vera lite, but it just shows as “unable to get any information on node”

I have done all the usual things… reset, configure node now, etc. I can’t get the node to setup properly. any help would be appriciated.
