WiFi client option setup

All,

There’s an earlier thread that I’ve looked through but unclear where things ended up, so starting this.

I’m using firmware 1.0.616.

I don’t see any option to set Vera to be a WiFi client.
Q1: Where would I find: “Through a wi-fi access point. Vera is a bridge.” per the Wiki?

See attached screen shot of what my Net & WiFi page looks like.

I’ve since gone into the “Advanced Configuration” pages and selected client mode in wireless networking area but then it asked me to install some additional software which failed.

Q2: Is there some way I can verify if the WiFi on the device is operational? Per my other post, the AIR LED is not lit.

Thanks!

Charlie

The Wiki page is related to the Luup versions of the firmware - anything greater than 700, the latest being 980.

With 616 version it was possible, but not straightforward.

First off I would upgrade to the newest firmware because it works more reliably now and it very easy to set up wifi client mode now. If you want to continue using 616 than ignore the part where it asks you to install the extra software it’s already in there and will work.

With the new firmware the air led light stays solid when it has internet, with 616 it will continue to blink even if it has internet.

Thanks for the replies. I’m now on Luup but still no luck with WiFi.

Q1. So let me confirm, should the AIR LED light up (not the power circle LED to the left of it but the actual word AIR)? Mine is dark 100% of the time. The power circle LED does light when but only when I connect to network via ethernet cable.

Q2. My Access Point does not see any new MAC addresses. Can someone tell me what MAC address prefix I should be seeing?

Thanks again,
Charlie

As for the word air I don’t have vera in front of me but I don’t think it does light up I was thinking the power led that blinks when there’s no internet. I’ll look again tomorrow when I’m out to see it.

I did some testing in .979 and with no internet connection the power circle blinks and the air light is off. With an internet connection the power light is solid and the air light is solid until it transfers data on the internet then it blinks rapidly. This is all in wifi client mode but I’m sure it’s the same with a wired connection.
