User defined sorting for rooms, sections, scenes, and devices has been added to version 1.3 which was just released.

this a great app that i bought for $20; it’s now only $15 in the itunes store.

How does this work then?
I cannot sort as i want, only predefined sorts

Select the Custom sort option. Use the blue arrow to define the sort order for each item type.
It does not seem to work! Every time I chose custom and arrange them they keep going back to the way they were. Not sure what Im doing wrong?? ???

checked it but the favorit section which i only use cannot be custom sorted, it is not listed in the custom sort option at all. Only listed are devices, sections etc but not favorites
Also my iphone crashes when i use sort the section, after changing the sort the app immidiatly crashes when sections is chosen, only a complete remove and reinstall of the app fixes this.

Favorites will follow the order defined for scenes and devices when the “Custom” option is selected. That is the order that devices are defined will be used in the favorites screen. Since favorites also allow scenes, those will be sorted in selected order too. So you would really see the first two favorites as your top sorted device and top sorted scene, then your second choices, etc.
With regards to the crash – I cannot seem to duplicate this. First please make sure you are up to date with 1.3.1. If you are, can you verify if this happens again? There was an issue that particular users who updated to 1.3.x might experience a crash that is not reproducible after a clean install. If it still crashes (or any other crashes) please send me a e-mail to support at automator app dot com.
I cannot get custom sort to work…
When i select custom sort and it is selected, I then press blue arrow so i can move things up or down.
When i move 1 up and choose an other one to move then the just moved one is back to where it was and not moved at all. Tried it several times, i cannot get it to work at all. (running last version)
Also you explanation of favorite sort I do not understand, how can i for example mix devices and scenes and custom sort it.
This favorite section is used for the most used functions within vera, this regarding if it is a scene or device, for example i have added 2 scenes which i most used (go to bed and all lights on) and 1 device (camera), these i added to favorites, so those 3 things i use the most manually with vera.
Now it is sorted and the camera is shown first and then the 2 scenes.
I want the camera as last and also the 2 scenes switched in order, all light on is now before go to bed. So i want actually the order of favorites: go to bed, all lights on, camera.
This i cannot get to work at all.
As a workaround, if you move one, then exit the list, then go back, move the other, does it work?

OK this is not logic, why not the same sorting as the rest, the favorite section is in most cases tje most use section ot the app and this section cannot be sorted as desired. I hope this can be changed or updated in a next release.

Alright, I can duplicate it now. The problem you describe, at least for me, seems to only happen with scenes. Devices, sections, and rooms all seem to behave as expected. I will definitely fix this.
With regards to custom sorting, to be honest, I didn’t really consider it would be used much in the favorites screen – my thought being that favorites are generally a small list and the order wouldn’t matter. It was mostly done to allow arranging sections and rooms, but while at it I allowed it scenes and devices too. This gets a little confusing when you have a screen that renders both scenes and devices at the same time. I’ll work to enhance the sorting options even more in a future release – custom sorting seems to be highly desired.

Yes. I’m having the same problem as B3rt describes.
Then the same workarounds might work?
