I figured out that I need to add all unassigned devices before I get to see the big device configuration screen.
So there I am – try to program one button on a wall scene controller to trigger a scene using method ONE. Everything seems to work on the UI, but the controller is clearly no updated. It is lighting up red when I press the button. What else do I need to do to “push” the data out to either the controller locally, or to the network as a whole?
Again – my steps are:
scene – define a simple scene that turn a dimmer on
devices – custom – add scene – enter button #, pick scene defined above,
press big red SAVE.
it’s the leviton 4 button inwall scene controller, don’t remember the model number, but there is just one. model. i.e. not the zone controller.
I am running vera in secondary controller mode though. Hence my question – does this work when the controller button is configured by a secondary controller. The fact that the controller flashes red when I press the button would suggest that the controller has not been “programmed” locally.
Partially answering my own question – I re-read the vera wiki and relized that the controller data is “pushed” by vera when I go thru a “add zwave controller” step.
This is actually fault of confusing zwave terminology, by “re-adding a controller”,
I am 1) putting the controller in program mode (hold buttons 1 and 3 until amber flash)
and 2) click add controller on vera.
It’s really “update” not add.
HOWEVER – this is still not working. I get “comm: waiting: error 3” immediately after I click “Ad zwave controller” from vera.
pkshiu. We did find an incompatibility with the scene controllers and method #1 (which you’re using). method #2 works. The problem was recently fixed in our new Luup version. By the end of next week we’ll have an official beta version of the Luup engine which you can upgrade to that will solve this issue.
I guess I’ll switch over to that version of beta engine when it comes up, since the reason I got the Vera is to play with the LUUP inerface, in my case wanting to interface my own front end web server to Vera, using Vera as sorta a zwave bridge.
Thanks,
P.k.
