What’s the most cool thing vera can do: I must say I’m stealing this from another place. But the the fact is that i’m running out of ideas of what Vera do, or what Vera can do for me, so then I wonder, what is the coolest thing that Vera does for you?
noticing my cat is on the couch with help of the foscam motion sensor plugin and a scene to send a http request to my pc running VLC which automaticly plays a .wav file yelling at it : “Get your ass of the couch, GODDAMNED !”
The Siri proxy interface and the text to speech option via the Sonos plug in are both pretty cool

Mine is working but is not reliable enough… too much false positive… With low sensibility I’ missing some motion…
Hard to say whats the best thing… you can do a lot of funny stuff… I also like the text to speech trough Karotz. Scene activation (ie: diable alarme) with RFID. Too bad the Karotz is out of stock for months…

yes, it works i put my own voice in it so the cat thinks its me. still sometimes ignores it when it sees a other cat in the backyard though. i sorta fixed the false positives by setting the cam close to the couch, so it registers motion just a little above it and setting the sensibility to low works fine here. it’s actually a eminent cam. foscam but with eminent firmware on it. works a lot better then this crap foscam interface.
the NFC tags is also a nice addition in combination with tasker and authomationHD. and this new autovera app is really cool.
the best thing is when people dont know you have home-automation and see you talking to your phone, thinking you lost your mind. and then the frontdoor or light is actually responding to it. most of the time they look like “are you kidding me now or what ?”
