What is the best/recommended debug strategy?

Just wondering what your ‘best’ debug strategy is.

For example: I’m using the heliotrope plugin together with a combinationswitch. Switch is ON when sun altitude is between 0 and 90 degrees (sun is up). I have a scene that turns on all outside and some insight lighting when switch is off and a few scenes that turn stuff off in the morning or at ‘bedtime’. This basically works great but almost every night it will turn the outside lighting on (sends me a message on my phone), 10 minutes or so later it turns everything off again and then a little while later back on again. Normally it will stay on the remainder of the night but it is driving me crazy, it should just turn on and stay on ???

How can I debug something like this?

Is your Vera rebooting at night ?
That can cause some plugins to send some extra events (because of bugs in the VERA code not the Plugin code).

Doesn’t look like it. In this particular case it happens around sunset.

When I try to look at the logs I get a message ‘Error reading from log.’ (thru http://veraip/cgi-bin/cmh/log.sh?Device=0)

Try with this :

http://veraip/cgi-bin/cmh/log.sh?Device=LuaUPnP
