I’ve got high quality wall switches at good price from China.
It support up to 4 groups association.
But Vera can not manage associations for this device.
What can be the steps?
Is it possible to debug it some how?
Is it possible to use Lua to customize Vera in such a way that it will support this device?
What is going on when you try to “add” these high quality wall switches to the Z-wave network ? (using the wizard on the dashboard, or the add/remove button on the Vera).
I would bet that most likely these are not really Z-wave devices. They may be on the same frequency, or even able to accept some Z-wave commands, but they probably don’t support full functionality. Who is the manufacturer on these? Do you have a model number we can look at? True Z-wave devices are built to be compatible with the spec and shouldn’t have a problem communicating with Vera.
I’ve added all switches using “add” mode of Vera without any problem. After that I able to mange all switches manually from Vera, able to add them into my scenes. They working fine with this.
Problems started when I’ve tried to create association. According to documentation device can be associated for groups 1,2,3,4. I’ve tried to do it from “Device options” tab of that appliance in Vera. No errors shown but nothing happens. It is not a problem to create associating while this device is a target but not the source.
I also have Duwi ZW-WS - battery operated wall switch/controller. Using it entering association mode I’m able to create association for group 1. It is working. I’m expecting to receive remote to try groups 2, 3, 4. But again, it will be much more convenient to manage all associations from Vera

Would you mind describing the steps in detail?
What works for my battery operated devices manufactured by merten:
Add Z-Wave remote, configure the associations on the “Device options” tab, SAVE the changes, set the Z-Wave device to listening/configuration/association/… mode, ‘Settings’ → ‘Configure node right now’ (I have to repeat the last step several times until success).
Device model is TZ66-D from TKBHOME http://www.tkbhome.com/?cn-p-d-111.html.
Not sure if you live in the states or what you are using these switches for, but you are aware that they are rated for 220v use & not 110v right? Also Z-Wave freq will vary upon country. Your switches are 868.42 MHz.
Frequency band: The Z-Wave Radio uses the 900 MHz ISM band:
908.42 MHz (United States)
868.42 MHz (Europe)
919.82 MHz (Hong Kong)
921.42 MHz (Australia/New Zealand)
Also, I’d be a little careful using switches that are NOT UL approved.
TZ66-D SPEC.
Power: 230 VAC, 50 Hz
Signal (Frequency): 868.42 MHz
Maximum Load – Resistive: 6 amps (1380 watts) maximum, 230 VAC
Range: Up to 30 meters line of sight between the Wireless Controller and /or the closest Z-Wave Receiver Module.

Is the manual available online?[/quote]
I do similar things, the difference is that my appliances are not battery operated, so I do not need to put them into listening mode and I leave configuration up to Vera (automatic configuration):
go to “Device options” tab of the source appliance
create group 2
press “set” and check box against target appliance
close appliance configuration
press Save to Vera on top right
wait until it is done (until server busy is over)
wait until configuration messages bellow my source appliance are over
walk to press right button on the source appliance
oh… it is not working
I do not think they have documentation online. The paper based one which came with my devices states that device can be associated into up to 4 groups:
1 group is left button single + attached load
2 group is right button single press
3 group is left button double press
4 group is right button double press
I’ve tried to use Duwi appliance as source and a target while opposite side is TZ. While Duwi is a source it is working pretty well. It is also important that after creating such association if Duwi is a source I can see that “Set to” is equal to “Currently”. If TZ is a source - they are not.
I’m in Europe (Russia) so this specification is fully matches my needs. My controller is Vera2 EU.
Also, I'd be a little careful using switches that are NOT UL approved.
I'm fully share your concern. The problem is that in general list of devices designed for Europe much more limited, list available to be purchased in Russia even more limited.
For basic operations TZ appliances is working as well as my Duwi appliances and even have better design and potentially more functionality. (I'm not talking about the price which is about two times lower).
I’m not sure if it can be a good price for you but for me it was $40 including shipping comparing to Duewi $75 at a local store. Photo are attached. Each button has a light which is configurable - can be on while light is off or on while light is on. In reality button light is smooth and so bright only on photo
Thank you very much for the images. It seems that this switch is a quality device. Is it a push-button (кнопка нажимается, а не переключается)? And what about this transparent plastic around installed switch - is it included? Are the diode lights annoying? They are on when it’s off?
I think I will order it myself, without my own tests I cannot provide any solutions.
It is a push-return button etc. it has only one fixed position - neutral. You push bottom, after release it came back, you push top, after release it came back.
The transparent plastic was purchased in local DIY shop Leroy Merlin. It is just an additional $3
Light are soft and not annoying even in a dark room, it is hard to provide photo which will reflect this.
I mentioned early that led light is configurable - 1. shows light on 2. shows light off
I use second option, etc it highlight buttons in a dark rooms.
No failure messages are shown during configuration at UI4. I’ve tried to monitor Lua log having a terminal connection to Vera but I do not know for what to watch.
It seams while this device is not listed as compatible and actually new it is not supported by Vera and this is a reason why it cannot be associated.
I have followed the TZ66 manual with regard association etc , right paddle = nothing.
When associating is it a requirement to tell / share both device ID’s with each other, or just inform the master which slave it is controlling in Group 2
I also have the TZ66-D, and was unable to create associations. Without associations the right paddle switch is useless.
I have attached the instruction manual for this switch.
Can anyone suggest a possible solution?
