In UI4 it was possible to assign rooms to sections. This feature is missing in UI5, am I correct?
But what happens with this information when I update a vera2 from UI4 to UI5. Well I did do that and honestly I did not realize up to now that the feature is missing, I never really used it.
But now I happened to connect the iPhone App Automator.app to my vera2 running on UI5, and this app still shows sections when you try to browse your device by room. Funny enough all rooms I added in UI5 are logically not assigned to a section, and therefore I can not browse it’s devices by room in this app. I can only see rooms I already had on UI4.
I also have some Aeon Labs MiniMotes I use a scenecontrolers. If I add a scene to a room which is in no section, I can not assign a scene in the minimote’s settings, it is just not shown. As soon as I move the scene to an old room which was already on UI4 (and therfore has a section assigned) I see the scene and I can assign it to a button on the minimote.
So it seems that the section information is still available somewhere on the vera, and some apps and devices still seem to use it. How to I get rid of that? Or how can I assign new rooms to a section? Is this just an error / bug during the update procedure?
I was not sure where to open this thread, it fits in a lot of topics in this forum…
Sections were removed in UI5. Well the sections remained from UI4 to UI5. In UI5 you could not create new sections. This is something the Beta team has voiced to MCV to put them back. They did say they will add that feature back into UI5. But right now it is low on their list. I was one of them as I use sections to organize my devices and rooms. So if you went from UI4 to UI5 they are still there. There is no way of modifying the rooms from the sections.
I can’t speak to UI7 support, but as someone who used sections extensively I miss them. Couple that with the fact that I moved to a new house then upgraded to UI5 without realizing this feature had been removed. Hopefully there were brought back.
