I’m at work, logged into the UI, and I noticed the front door was unlocked, which happens frequently when my in-laws come over. The only time I mind if the door is unlocked is when someone is walking through it. I’d just prefer it be locked all other times. I didn’t have any reminders or auto re-lock. Now, I guess I could have just locked it… but I wanted to see if I could instead train people in the house to lock the fricken’ door.
So, I added a PLEG condition that changes state to True when the front door has been unlocked for 20 minutes that 1) sends a Prowl reminder, and 2) sounds a stern Sonos alert that the door has been left open. By stern, of course, I mean a male voice. I use en-CA for general alerts, and switch over to en for the more urgent ones.
So, after saving the condition & actions, I reloaded and pressed “Do It Now.” Sure enough, within about 20 seconds, the front door locked itself. I guess they can be taught.

My in-laws thought I was too stern explaining how to use my Harmony remote. I can only imagine how they’d react to this! ;D
Working Xmas… might as well contribute here than somewhere I’m not just being justly compensate for.
My primary focus when I began the HA journey was to protect my children as best as I could.
I’ve set up Blue iris to trigger when the camera in my daughter room hear something louder than the white noise maker or moderate bass from the home theater. Take it from there. Between her and my son I’ve had every kind of action set up. Change hue color, tts in the bedroom, Automatic camera call up in WMC. Also use a watchdog timer on that camera. The newest update to BI allows you to run recording through the motion detection algorithm and see exactly what will hit. I don’t think it works on audio though, but trial and error is revealing. I’ve also masked my sons bed off so he can toss and turn but no alerts unless he actually get up in the middle of the night.
And because I’ve set up the alarm panel to disarm upon manual unlocking of deadbolts, I had to utilize some PLEG which basically says if he gets up opens his door, then an exterior door is opened before ours is, Sirens.
On a side note, What do you guys think is the right age to take the camera out of his bedroom, he’s 3 right now.
I’m not trying to automate parenting but it’s an extra layer, not the only layer.
I have the Everspring HSM-02 sensor. It eats batteries like crazy.
So…
I bought a 4-AA battery pack with on/off switch so it would equal the 6 volts from the 2 coin batteries and wired red/black into pos/neg. Works like a champ. Now the test will be what happens after 14 days when the sensor is normally dead as a doornail. I’m quite hopeful this will be perfect.
I hate throwing away an item like this that still works.
Sometimes the project and proof it worked is more rewarding than buying a whole new device.
Yes it’s not cosmetically appealing but this door is rarely opened and rarely seen by anyone. It’s in a back bathroom that happens to lead outside which is why I still wanted a working device.
We are tinkerers here and love to explore DIY fixes/workarounds so that’s all.
Same issue, money wasted, INMHO this should never have been allowed out on the market.[/quote]
Agreed, perhaps my little project is worth a shot but it depends on where your sensor is. I do admit it’s a bit ugly but not an issue for me. Perhaps you could find a white case also.
Today I rewrote my Pleg functions for my Alarm, my HVAC control and lighting (now I’ve actually learned how to use pleg properly) and with the confidence gained I’ve ordered another 5 motion sensors and a lighting relay…
Here’s hoping my system still works in a few weeks time lol
I was given some LED candles for Christmas. They’re great as standalone mood lights but…I have a Vera!
I added them to my Logitech Harmony hub and subsequently to the Vera plugin for Harmony.
VeraHomeKitBridge and two scenes later to “Light the candles” & “Blow out the candles”. Yada yada yada…that was fun but…
…a bit of PLEG and they now switch between still and flicker depending on the windspeed for my location coming from Weather underground.
My mind is blown by the path that data takes and how it presents itself visually.

That my friend is…amazing!
Greate jobb!
What LED candles are these that were so easy to integrate?
The Harmony was already aware of Frostfire as the manufacturer and Mooncandles as the model. Despite that I still had to “learn” from the original remote. The rest, as they say is PLEG

Very clever!
Thanks for the info @JuniorJedi seems quite similar to the Luminara candles I have but cheaper and more features. I have integrated the Luminaras with the help of the MySensors plugin but they are only On/Off. I’m sure the Frostfire products can be integrated with MySensors also.
