What AVR do you all use?

Now that I have a solid reason to actually replace my av receiver, I’m trying to find ones that I can at least control well enough in an automated fashion. I’m not afraid to write code, but it doesn’t look like these are the kinds of things that show up as prominently in the manual (like my Sharp’s RS-232 commands were).

I’ve seen the screenshots of the web interface in the Denon manuals, so an http server is at least scriptable. And I’ve heard rumours that Onkyo aren’t playing nice with their protocols and commands these days. So maybe those of you actually using the things can cut through a lot of the fud out there. What AV models are you all using, and what mechanism are you using for power/volume/input control?

Not tried any of them yet, but I was thinking about getting a new Pioneer receiver if my other one died, or I could find an excuse with the missus to update it :slight_smile:

As far as control goes, some of the plugins (maybe all) have interfaces in Vera, and further control could be performed with a http command from any client that supports this. The best method though IMHO is if you are an iOS user, is to use SQ Remote.
