I’m looking into getting a notification when my washing machine is finished. (and how much time left but I realize this is a bridge too far for now) ;D
When finished, my Samsung washing machine plays a song and then turns itself off.
Thinking 3 possibilities:
listen if song is played (microphone, tricky, Raspberry involved)
monitor door lock (means opening up my new washing machine)
power monitor, set a virtual switch to ‘on’ when washing machine hits a certain wattage, then wait for it to return to 0 watt.
Last option seems most feasible.
The machine pauses multiple times during program, power consumption is then limited to the pcb and display. So power measurement needs to be extremely accurate because I’m guessing the difference between standby/waiting and off is marginal (1 watt). Also max. wattage has to be around 3500 watts. (@220v)
Does anyone have recommendations which power monitor device to use?
You could use a Fibaro wall plug, just check how much watt your washing machine uses, normally during heating the machine uses around 2000-2200 watt so you should be fine there. Also, you could set a delay, for example if the watt is below a certain level for more than 10 mins, then the machine has actually stopped.

For more information, or just create a scene which triggers if energy usage goes below a certain level (works again with the new firmware).
I remember this exact same scnario being done in the past. If you search the forum for washing machine I am sure you should find this.
it was done based on wattage in use.
If you have PLEG and an energy monitor, you could have one condtion trigger while at operating wattage and another at zero.
Eg.
(WasherRunning; Now >3:00) and WasherOff
This should trigger 3 minutes after the washer turns off, more or less.
Just remember to use watts and not watthours for your monitoring. A common mistake people make.

Hi all
This discussion make me thinking back in 1990 when someone invented to do coffee machine monitoring via puting DCR (camera) next to office cofee machine so everyone in the wold can remote check the state of it.
How manny internet years is needed before manufactures like Samsung manage to set device inside their products so we as customers can benefit it and use the information furter.
Samsung eaven have smart home platform themselves!
This same goes of cource to other machines also like TV,Oven,Stove,Microware,…
