I still need to polish up the charger which is behind the tablet otherwise its done.
The qi charger is great for having zero wires.
I ran some ethernet dropped down from a local point to behind the wall of the charger.
Looks good. I have been wanting to do this with my nexus 7 too but it’s a first gen one so I can’t do wireless charging. I have thought about installing a recessed Z wave outlet and and mounting a modified picture frame over the nexus to hide the power cable.
You can still run power over Ethernet To USB. The kit is les than 30.00 on Amazon. That way you only have to run cat6 and no hassles or danger of a wall wart buried in an outlet box. It also gives you the flexibility of later using any usb chargeable tablet. Just use a deep box and leave all the extra tablet cord in the box with the usb - Ethernet adapter.

I agree with all the above and wanted to mention another benefit. You don’t have to try and run Romex! Cat 5/6/7 is MUCH easier to run than romex. The only better solution would be if the tablet had POE built in (I don’t need it to be removable from the wall). I know they do have some tablets like that that are specifically meant for this purpose.
Running POE would be ideal and I have been thinking about that as well. I currently have this WS-POE injector - 12-48v60w running all of the Hikvision cameras at my house, would like to be able to use it to power a few other things as well, perhaps a wall mount tablet.
On amazon I just saw some iPad flush wall mounts for around 30.00. I find iPad 3 and 4 units for well under 200.00 used on Craigslist for my business as point of sale / inventory systems. Groupon often has some great deals on refurb ipads also. White ones seem especially prevalent. I have found that leaving iPads plugged in 247/365 as a POS terminal is a non issue. In ~ 4 years we have never had a failure, and the few times we unplug them the battery life performs as it did new. IPad 4 is the better option. I figure they are good for at least 5-7 years. Just leave the poe in the wall behind the iPad pocket and that would make a nice system.
I was thinking of that mount. Now is that just a chrome painted plastic or is it metal?
When you tap on your tablet does it rock or move in the holder? I wanted a system that was secure so when I tap hard on it it’s not moving in the bracket.

It is just painted plastic. The cheap price holds true to what it is…
It does hold the Nexus 7 very sturdy. It doesnt budge within the bracket and the bracket doesnt budge on the wall (3M tape).
Out of curiosity, if you had to do another one would you do a diy with wood, or a modified picture frame of sorts? There are very few choices for my asus tf101 and I just want something sturdy that doesn’t wobble and move while I tap the screen.
I was looking at using that same tablet mount too.
Thanks![/quote]
There is another thread on this somewhere… don’t have time to search.
but FYI… i tried this coil with my 7" Acer and it worked great. problem is that the ribbon is too short to get the coil in the middle of the back. If you are wall mounting, probably not a big deal as you can just offset the charger. I was trying it on a stand , and it wouldn’t work. (not centered… tablet tipped off).
In the other thread a few of us are looking into some alternatives with longer ribbons. (they are coming on slow boat from china)
No I am not really fond of the wood look, personal preference.
If I did it over I would get some crazy glue and put 2 metal strips on the back of the nexus.
I would than put some low profile strong magnets on the mall. So it would just look like a hovering tablet.
I like how I can just take if off the wall. It is handy sometimes.
