VRCS2-MRZ and UI7

Anyone have any luck with thsi switch adding as two loads under UI7?

I have found many threads for ui5 and I had a hard enough time with ui5. UI7 my tricks don’t seem to work.

Using a Vera3 with firmware 541, I did the include which gave me 3 devices (1 scene controller and 2 on/off switches) and named each one. Then I went to the Device Options for the scene controller and added a Group ID 1 with the device # of the first on/off switch and added a Group ID 2 with the device # of the second on/off switch. After the scene controller reconfigured, the buttons were associated with the 2 loads. That is all I needed and it is working perfectly with no delays. I had lots of trouble with previous firmware and when trying to have it also run scenes.

How are you getting 3 devices to show up. Im on an Edge. But I can get only a scene controller or one time I got one switch. After exclusion and holding both down until red flashes 3 times. I go to include and hold both down until orange.

Do you do anything different? Single button or something?

I originally had it working in UI5, then had lots of issues (similar to you) on various UI7 firmware versions after upgrading. At some point, one of the UI7 firmware updates addressed the issue. I followed the below to get it to work.

  1. Exclude the VRCS2 device loads from Vera. Exclude the loads first. While the Vera is in exclusion mode, exclude the top load by pressing button 1. Switch 1 will exclude from your network. If the LED on the Load control turns solid Red while excluding, there has been a communication error. Try excluding node again. Repeat the exclusion for the bottom button (Load 2).
  2. Then exclude the scene controller. To access program mode on the VRCS2, press and hold buttons 1 and 2. Wait approximately 5 seconds until the LED turns Amber. Release the buttons and the LED will blink Amber. You are now ready to exclude. If the LED on the 2-Scene controller turns solid Red while excluding, there has been a communication error.
  3. Reset the VRCS2 device to factory defaults. On the VRCS2 Scene controller, press and hold both buttons 1 and 2. Wait approximately 10 seconds until the LED turns Amber and then turns solid Red. Allow LED’s to blink red twice, release the buttons. The VRCS2 Scene controller with switches is now reset.
  4. Cut the power to the switch just to clear any remaining data.
  5. Turn the power back on to the switch.
  6. Re-Include the VRCS2 device (make sure you wait long enough to get all 3 devices, it can be finicky).

Thanks for the help but if possible can I get more information on setup 6

Are you just holding both down and releasing after orange? You show steups excluding each one seperatly are you including each on seperatly? On Ui7 it never pops up with more then one device at a time. It only says found new device then asks you to name it then gives you two buttons. One for finished and one for add another device, which runs you back threw the menu again. Ui5 multipule devices would show up at a time and I could name 2 or 3 or more. Even on ui7 when I ended up with 1 scene controller and one device it never showed me the load or allowed me to name it during inclusion. It only showed the scene controller allowed me to name it and after the luup restart it showed up with a default name (I can’t remember now).

Anyways I guess I’ll try to wait longer before naming it and pressing finished. Also Please more info on #6 if you can.

I am pretty sure that I held both buttons to include the scene controller and then clicked each individual button to include the loads. It has been a while since I got it working and I can’t remember the exact steps, but a quick look at the VRCS2 inclusion instructions seems to say that you need to add the loads by pushing each of the 2 buttons individually after adding the scene controller.

Maybe someone who has added it more recently can confirm.

You could probably try putting the Vera in include mode and clicking each of the buttons to see if the loads appear.

Thank you. You have been helpful I’ll give it ago and see what happens.

On Saturday I even had VERA on the phone and they were trying everything and never got anywhere with it. Eventually they gave up and said it doesn’t work and they will look into it. I have 4 of these switches 3 of which were added in ui5 before and one that is brand new I installed this last weekend.

At least I can confirm you have it working in UI7 so I know its possible. Now just fining the trick.

Thanks again for replaying.

I also don’t have an Edge. I have a Vera 3 so it could be an issue there rather than UI7.

Very Possible, but I’m still gonna roll with your suggestions. Doesn’t look like many others are in the same boat. I haven’t seen any UI7 threads on this switch. And being it’s one of the only double switches, you would think it would be more popular. I also think by now quiet a bit of people have moved to UI7. So shocked at the low responses and threads on this.

This worked perfectly for me on a Vera Edge with 1.7.1089. Thanks!!

Can you give some details?

I just tried again this last weekend with support. I could only get the scene controller installed. Clicking either of the buttons only said found existing device and would never add any more devices or loads. I have had support on the phone twice for this and have a support ticket emailed too. I have 4 of these switches one was brand new and I tried that one this weekend just to make sure the old ones (were installed on ui5, but have been excluded and reset) were not causing the issue.

You installing from ui?
Did you move the edge close to the switch Via long ethernet cable?
When you include and press both until they orage do you wait of when do you press each switch individual?
When do you actually see the loads show up to name them?

I can echo that some Leviton switches/controllers need to be VERY close to the Vera to be correctly paired. I can also state that some Leviton scene controllers do not work at all (see previous posts). Also, be very patient when pairing. It can take ‘a couple’ minutes for some devices to be fully configured.

I don’t know I’m at a loss so far. I have ran a long cat5 cable and put the edge right next to the switch on the kitchen counter with the switch around 10" away on the backsplash.

It’s been several days since the install. All I have is a scene controller installed no loads. So nothing has changed with time.

I know some switches may not work, but looks like atleast 2 people have got them installed and one with the EDGE atleast.

I’m still kind of unsure at what point to press the individual buttons and how long and such. I’m assuming my error is during that phase if any.

I didn’t use the UI to pair I pluged my edge in near the switch and used the include button on the side of the edge. Once the edge was in include mode I held both buttons until the scene controller went into program mode. Once the zwave light on the edge indicated it was included I pressed each of the buttons to include the loads. I left the vera near the switch for about 5 min then moved it back to its normal location and the devices were all installed.

I’ll give that a go. I spent 2 hours with VERA tech support again last Friday. They tried everything under the sun and at one point we got one load and the scene controller but never could get any one of the 4 switches to include right. They have a ticket open on it for a few months now.

Hi, need to jump in here for some help. I have installed the VRCS2 without a problem. I have a scene controller and two switches. Everything works fine from the dashboard, but I cannot get the switches to work locally. What is the trick here to get the switches to work? Thanks for any help/

Associate the scene controller to the load switches.

Sorry for my ignorance, but how is that done?

This is what I did. I went to the scene controller, clicked on device options, under association I added the group ID number (in this case 42). Then I added another group ID (which was 43); still the switches are inactive. Did I do the association correctly or did I leave out any steps reguired?

Thanks
