I am trying to use associations (not scenes) for these buttons to GE on/off switches and also dimmers (both GE and Leviton).
To do this, I used the Associations feature in UI5’s Device Options. Pressing the VRCS2 buttons turns on both the switches and the dimmers. So far, so good.
But when I click the VRCS2 button again, nothing happens. Clearly there is communication between this controller and the slaves since they get switched on. Doesn’t the 2-button controller turn OFF as well as ON? I’ve tried this for both the button and scene controls.
I understand how to use scenes ON and OFF, so I don’t need help with that. But the Association OFF is a mystery to me.
I’m having this problem too. I’ve reset the unit, excluded it, everything, and I can get things to turn on but not off. This is a new problem for me - I’ve occasionally had these units fall off my network but now they consistently do not set up correctly. I’ve had more trouble with the VRCS2 than any other Z-wave device on my network, but nothing else seems to replicate its function (two switches in one unit).
You can try following the following guide - it used to work for me but now it does not - hopefully you’ll have more luck:
I finally yesterday night correct my VRCS2-MRZ functionality…(2 local loads and scenes working fine).
I made exclusion of my vera3 and add again the device…
No local loads working at this time…
I create a scene to turn on the load 1 in the trigger for this scene I use button 1 not zero like vera3 suggests and trigger the scene…
here is the point… I read a good tutorial ( but I do not remeber from who !) and he says I need create a scene to turn off the lamp triggered in the scene to turn on…
In my case this not necessary…I press button 1 and run scene to turn on the load 1 but when I press again the button 1 it deactivates the lamp…without scene.
the same for button 2.
for information when vera is turned off you do not can turn on the lamp in the button 1 (it works only with the scene, correct ?)) I discover if I press 2 times fast in the button the lamp turns on !).
now my vera3 is running with the option let vera controls automatically the devices checked …
thanks !
my next step is install a VRCZ4-M0Z 4 scenes controller I hope find a document good like that…
The off functionality is part of the controllers: they turn off the devices in the (on) scene. Depending on which devices you are controlling, the controller may or may not know about them. If it’s a scene capable device, like the local loads in your example, it will work. But if it isn’t scene capable, then Vera will have to turn off the device. For that you need a Vera scene.
From that perspective, for consistency, I think it’s better to always define an off scene. It may also help with the LED control (done by Vera).
VRCS2/VRCS4/VRCZ4 (-M0 or MR) are all similar, in my opinion.
