Voltage compatibility

nsalazar,

Vivo en chile y estoy pensando en comprarme un veralite. Me gustaria poder hablar contigo para hacerte preguntas sobre las frecuencias que se utilizan y si hay problemas en usar la version US o EU en chile!

nsalazar,

I live in Chile and I am thinking of buying a Veralite. I would like to talk to you to ask you questions about the frequencies used and if there are problems in using the U.S. or EU version in chile!

Esta bien, tu puedes hablar conmigo sobre vera. Hay 220volt en Chile, como Inglaterra, verdad? Si quieres, dame su correo por PM, aqu? en este forum.

Sorry for the spanish!

Already sent you a PM, but I will ask is publicly either way. I live in Chile where we have 220v/50hz and the same US frequencies. What does it mean that we use this frequency? Does it mean that the EU frequency won’t work here? Does it mean that all other frequencies are illegal but they still work?

If someone could explain this better I would be grateful. I am thinking on buying veralite very soon.

So, if you are using Zwave with vera, you are likely going to be looking for European devices with the corresponding Euro zwave frequencies.

the US is 120V 60Hz and uses a different zwave frequency than Europe.

There are many European users on the forum who can assist you to find the right devices and set them up.

And what happens with the different frequencies? We use the same as in US and not EU.

I don’t believe you will find any 220Volt devices that us the US zwave frequencies. As I understand Chile, you are leaning towards Europe not USA (in electrical standards).

Thank you all guys for your replies!
Long story short, these are the things that I have to be aware of when I choose the Vera version.

[ul][li]Plug Type http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_electricity_by_country[/li]
[li]Electricity Voltage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_electricity_by_country[/li]
[li]Electricity Frequency http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_electricity_by_country[/li]
[li]Z-Wave Frequency/Standard http://z-wave.sigmadesigns.com/docs/Z-Wave_Frequency_Coverage.pdf[/li][/ul]
All of them are different according where you live.
The first one is the less important.

According to the replies, the solution for a country where you have a 220v/50Hz and not in EU are:

[ul][li]Get an US Veralite (if your Z-Wave Frequency matches your country), but you have problem of having devices (such as locks, thermostats, etc) that won’t work with 220v/50Hz[/li]
[li]Get an EU Veralite, but you have the problem of having fewer devices available (but are 220v/50Hz)[/li][/ul]
It seems that the best option is going for an EU version because you’ll find devices that are 220v/50Hz compatible with that z-wave frequency… It’s better having fewer that none.

The only thing that I’m worried about is that the Z-Wave frequency could be a deal-breaker, because I live in Chile and the frequency is the same as in the US.

Please reply if you find another solution and/or idea.
Thanks a lot!

s?, hay que ir con el voltaje europeo, pero cuidado con la polic?a ZWave!

So, I entered http://shop.getvera.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VeraLite to buy the Europe version and I only have two options:
1: Us Version
2: Australia / New Zealand

Where can I buy the Europe version?
