Virutal Motion Sensor - Notification

I have set up a virtual motion sensor for home and away. Home = Bypass.
I have programmed lua code to trip the virtual sensor if the temperature is below 3 deg c. The lua code works and the status of the device changes on the dashboard showing that it is tripped.

I then created an event that should trigger whenever the virtual montion sensor is tripped. For some reason it doesn’t send the email/sms notifications. I have other notifications set correctly and they work fine.

Any ideas?
