I got some new wall switches today and was looking forward to some plug’n’play action. Not so…I’ll make a long-ish story short-ish.
I’ve set up my new switch and included it. I’ve set it up to work as it should, even though it is detected as Generic IO. It works fine if I associate it with a physical device.
However - I’d like it to control a scene, which I cannot find a way for it to do. So…I thought I’d turn a virtual switch on/off and the use the virtual switch as a scene trigger. The idea was solid, but the virtual switch doesn’t show up in the list of devices I can associate with.
Anyone got any help as to how to get this working?

I think you need to look into Z-Wave scene controllers.

This is part of my learning experience But then I guess it’s not possible to trigger PLEG either…So my next option might be to just mount some sort of physical z-wave device just for triggering, then?
I made another thread as well (not trying to spam) from a little wider point of view. Hopefully something helpful comes out of it.

You are calling it a wall switch but is it a ZWave.Me WALLC-S Wall Controller? If so, it is really more a scene controller than a switch. In some modes you can configure it to control Z-Wave devices by direct association. In other modes it can be used to trigger Vera scenes.
I suggest reading this Vesternet Application Note on the previous model WALLC or BJ 2000. The configuration of a WALLC-S is slightly different but the principle is the same.

Excellent! I’ve been trolling the net for info on the ZME WC-S, as it’s called where I got it from and also inside the cover. I only found one hit, but using “wallc-s” seems to get a whole lot more hits
hi Tiwas, i have been using this zwave.me walls-c … so if you need anything specific u can ask me.
I am currently using this via parameters 11-14 configured as “4” which updates the sceneId variable in 12 ways …button 1 click generates 11, button 1 double click generates 22, button 1 click and hold generates 15 and same for other buttong 21,22,25 and so on. i then use a scene running which basically have luup code to read sceneId for a numeric value and accordingly take action of running further actions … i can even make the Virtual switch On or Off with press of buttons on Walls-c … hope this helps.
