View Partition Status via Android App?

Hello All,

Does anyone know how to view the current status of their system from the Vera app for Android? I was able to create a scene to arm and disarm, but I can’t figure how to actually view the current status from the app like I can from the web interface.

Thanks!

Joe

Simple solution. Use a 3rd party app the supports the alarm plugins. Most of the android apps already do.

I use the java version of dscserver (also available as android app).
This talks to the envisalink card and then acts as an envisalink proxy to other apps (in my case a keypad app on android and ios, the vera and DSC Link for the ISY)

The reason I do this is because an envisalink card can only accept once connection.

Garrett,

That sounds like a possible solution, but I actually asked about seeing the status within the Vera app, not a 3rd party app. What I ended up doing was creating a generic switch that is turned on/off automatically when I arm/disarm.

Thanks,

Joe

scyto,

That is an awesome idea! I was looking at that app but didn’t use it since the DSC Plugin was using the single connection allowed by my envisalink. Once I have the dscserver configured as a proxy, I should be able to just switch my Vera DSC Plug in over to the IP of the machine running the dscserver?

Thanks,

Joe

I know you did, but you get better turn around using a third party app than what MCV would provide and better plugin support. This is coming from many years of experience from using Vera and being a developer.

I definitely understand that. The problem is I want to try and keep everything as simple as possible so my wife and kids can get the most functionality possible using a single place. They are already used to using the Vera app to control the lights and thermostat and such. Although, honestly, I have had nothing but problems with their app for iOS. The Android version seems to be much, much better.

Out of curiosity, what 3rd party apps have you found helpful?
