VeraMate is currently not compatible with the new UI6 (Update: it IS now)

All,

Unfortunately VeraMate is currently not compatible with the new UI. I will be working hard to make this happen, but I’m unable to give you a timeline. I’ve been asking Micasaverde/Vera for developer information, but they haven’t been giving out any details. I would recommend not upgrading to UI6 which is currently in Beta mode (and apparently quite buggy), especially if you would still like to use VeraMate.

I’ll keep this thread updated.

VeraMate

To keep you up to date, I’m now hoping to get some more formal documentation at the end of the week. So given it will require some development time, and then a week to release to the apple store, I would not expect this to go live for likely another 3 weeks. Sorry if this inconveniences anyone, but it’s out of my hands for the moment

You can use Veramate if you are on same network as Vera and login as guest.

What is your anticipation for having VeraMate working with UI6? Noticed some of the other apps are starting to become compatible.

Unfortunately MCV have not made available any technical documents to 3rd party devs apart from a seemingly select few - myself not being one of them :(. It’s extremely frustrating for me, but until I get further details about the API, I simply can’t even start on it. I’m going to chase MCV yet again, but the timeline is contingent on getting those specs - after which if we say a week of dev/testing, and another week for apple to approve, it’ll be at least 2 weeks after.

10-4, THANK YOU.

Actually I’ll put it out there now - if anyone would like to give me a guest access to their UI6 vera, please PM me and I’ll get back to you when I start development. This will be a big help to try a couple different connections.

Thanks

Just wanted to give an update re UI6 - I’ve received a bit of API documentation, but unfortunately not enough to start development. I’ve been in discussions with MCV/Mios for the last month but they are proving to be unable to divulge even the simplest information needed for me to get started. Extremely frustrating, but I’ll keep you updated.

On my Iphone there is a link below login that says sign in as guest. I can use Veramate w/ UI6 as a guest if I’m on the same network of the vera. However on my Ipad I do not see the login as guest link as an option.

I think this is a bug I’ve actually fixed in 5.1 (to be released imminently… as soon as Apple pull their thumb out!) - couple changes have gone into this guest login, so I missed this in testing. But, if this is the case, if you turn off wifi, and then back on, I believe the login should magically appear…

And I’ve finally been given the access I need  So… the development is on!

As I don’t have a local test box I can use for UI6, I might need a couple of beta testers to try and do it correctly. If you’re willing, please PM me your email address, and over the next week(ish) once I have something, you’ll get an email to download a beta version.

Great news!

Version 5.1 has been released, with initial support for UI6. A lot of thanks go to aaronsquire for his help in testing.

You’re welcome, glad I could help. Thanks again for getting it working with UI6 so quickly.

I just upgraded to the 5.1 version. I have ui5. I am currently about two feet from my router and getting a continual red bar saying ‘network problem occurred. retrying’ The number increments up to 10 and then seems to restart at 1 or 2. It can’t load the cameras and I am not certain what else isn’t being updated. I check the setting and didn’t see anything missing. Also, I upgraded my iPhone to the latest version right after upgrading veramate. Any thoughts?

So, after upgrading, how does one reset the server to call the home.getvera.com.

it seems that it is still calling the old url, as it says fwd1.mios.com on the ‘vera box’ panel.

i have the same username and password on both

You don’t need to do anything to use the new authentication code. Basically it’ll find any applicable vera boxes for you, and allow you to choose (if you have multiple), and whether it’s UI5 or UI6 will happen behind the scenes.

If you actually make the passwords different, you’ll see only the veras on UI6 appear with that login.

But, so that’s not happening for you? Is VeraMate not controlling a UI6 box?

It is just logging into the existing UI5 MiOS account and showing my other house.

How do I force it to look at my UI6 account?

The only way to force it currently is to use a username/password combination that is only valid for UI6.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is my fault tolerance for UI6 is set way too low - effectively if any of the attempts to connect to the new servers fail, it assumes it’s an invalid UI6 account. There are around at least 6 or so connections that are required in the new authentication process, and I have seen a good percentage of the time those servers fail the connection due to whatever reason. Perhaps this is occurring when you attempted the login.

I’ll get an update out asap to handle these connection errors better, but I’ll have to look into more what might be happening in your case when you have both UI5/6 veras. Not a nice solution I know, but, creating a separate user or changing your password should fix this if it is a bug. I’m a bit annoyed, as I specifically wanted this to work, but, I’m still waiting for some support from MCV (I couldn’t create multiple accounts to test this scenario fully).

so, I changed both passwords hoping that it would notice it is having a problem and prompt me for the account information.

Through the green box, I can see it cycle the “errored. Retry #33, 34, …”

I tried to (un)reinstall, but you must have a config file that stays behind with my userinfo
