The VeraLite comes with batteries but the “Quick Start Guide” never mentions them. I read somewhere that the batteries are used to move the unit around to include sensors and switches. Do the batteries get installed before dc power and network connections? Do the batteries remain in the unit in normal dc powered mode?
Batteries are only used temporarily for portable inclusion. It may be months or years before you use the batteries again. For this reason, I would not leave batteries in the Vera for fear of them leaking. Install the batteries after you have unplugged your Vera Lite.
