How or where can I get the password of my Veralite when I do ssh? I don’t have any backup file that I can download or use.
Thanks
Daniel
On my Vera2 it’s on the bottom of the box.
It looks that Veralite does not have it. I only see the serial number and MAC number on the back of the box.

Hi lancer,
this solution for vera light was provided by quinten in a different post and it works for me… Here is his post:
“If you go to Setup → Backup, you can download a (latest) backup stored on MCV’s servers. If you extract the archive and navigate to the etc directory, you’ll find a file called cmh.conf which is a text file. In it you’ll find a string like ‘Password=bladiebla’. That password is your root password.”
Then just ssh root@<vera’s ip> and enter the password…

Flo, I red that post. The problem is that my vera is stuck and I can’t communicate to it. I can’t access Setup menu with the Webrowser…So how do it download the info from MCV?
Hmmm…
Im sure you could give MCV a call. They should have the backups also and would be able to sent you that file.
You might check to see if there is a removable label on the back … I think I read that the password was covered up … but that may have been for OLD units and not the NEW units.
There is no password label for the Vera lite.

The password file in the backup has what appears to be 3 users root, nobody and daemon. What part of the string after root is the actual pwd? The following is a modified example of what I see.
root:fSexr2EI:0:0:root:/root:/bin/ash

The file you need to be looking for is under /etc/cmh/cmh.conf. In there is a line called “Password=xxxxxxxxxxx”. Where xxxxxxxxxxx is your password.

Thank you… It helps if I am looking at the correct file… ;D
Anytime.

what happens when neither the password on the box and the password in the most recent backup file work? They are both the same but access is still denied (vera3)
