Veralite apparently bricked itself

I upgraded to UI7 the day it was released and my veralite worked fine for the most part. I wasn’t really using it, but I noticed last week that I couldn’t reach it while away from home.

when I returned, I saw the first (blue) LED was the only one lit, blinking slowly. I tried everything I can think of, I even tried doing a factory firmware reset, following these directions: http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Firmware_Flash_VeraLite. I even installed the windows XP virtual machine, etc.

nothing seems to be working, I can’t reach my veralite.

I’ve just opened a ticket w/ vera, we’ll see what they say, but it seems that I’ve got a nice, green and white paperweight now.

any thoughts / suggestions / ideas?

I don’t think this is a UI7 issue, more of a fundamental (and serious) flaw in the design of Vera. My Vera Lite bricked itself again tonight under UI5. This is actually the second time this has happened since I’ve owned it. I haven’t logged into the unit in days, so there is no question this is purely a “spontaneous” bricking.

Last time I was able to recover with the firmware flash procedure, but only after spending hours to get a copy of Win XP up and running somewhere. I guess I’ll be doing it again tonight. What a piece of *rap product this is.
