I just purchased VeraLite (not yet arrived) but just noticed the following statment on the last page of the product brochure (Vera3_Brochure.pdf link on the main page).
VeraLite runs the same home control engine with all the capabilities of Vera3, and it is perfect for users that want to control fewer than 50 devices
Is this a hard-limit as I may have more devices than 50? I have not seen this mentioned anywhere else as all other reviews and comments indicate the main difference are the missing ports, no wifi, less memory and internal battery pack.
I suspect so. It’s not easy to quantify what will cause you to reach a resource limit on a Vera (1, 2, 3, Lite). ‘50 devices’ shouldn’t be a barrier, as you can do this on a Vera 2, and AFAIK there are no hard coded limits.
I’m pretty sure I have had 60+ running fine on my Vera 2. Not all z-wave devices: some X10, some DSC sensors, and some virtual (temperature, humidity). I think the Vera 2 has half the ram of the Vera Lite. I’m happy with mine and yours should be a good deal better!
There is a bit of a learning curve with Vera so please post any problems you can’t find answers to in the forums. This is probably the most friendly / helpful forum I have used.
