Vera3 With URC Total Control

Has anyone tried to include a Vera3 in URC’s Total Control Home Automation system?

I have used my Vera3 (and Vera2) with few problems over the years to manage mostly zwave devices. I have no desire to change zwave controllers but I have always thought that it would be nice if I could use a physical remote as an interface to control everything in my house including zwave commands. URC’s Total Control system (or ccgen2) has a setup that can do this and is able to use zwave too.

After looking at their zwave device, I realized it seemed a lot like the veralite G available on amazon and other places. I contacted URC and they confirmed that their device (TRF ZW1) is manufactured by micasaverde but they did not know if a Vera3 could be used instead.

I will not consider switching from a Vera3 to a veralite G just to use the URC system as a primary controller. I was hoping someone else might have tried this before with a Vera3. URC’s system is quite expensive and I would not be willing to invest in it unless I knew for certain the URC controller could send commands to the Vera3.

Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer.

Hi,

did you ever find answer to this jdingman?

No. I did go to a dealer who wasn’t willing to try his URC system with my Vera 3.

I don’t use Total Control, but I do use a URC Complete Control remote and I have found that I can easily bridge the gap with my Complete Control remote to my Vera by using a KIRA (Keene IR Anyware) device and plug in.

Just finalizing now how to get my URC FR blaster to work with the KIRA so I can hide the KIRA, but it seems finiky and not liking the blaster, but it has a direct IR wire in port that I am going to try next.

From my understanding the Total Control Z-Wave is still a bit immature and of course URC is completely DIY unfriendly so who knows what you would even be able to do yourself vs a dealer.
