Vera3 with existing router

I set up my Vera3 as my house router initially. After realizing it wasn’t going to do what I wanted, and it went into some weird funk where the web configuration screen always got an error, I decided to go back to my old house router setup.

Now I can’t get the Vera3 to work properly. I plugged the WAN port into my house LAN. That works, except that I can only reach the web config screens through cp.mios.com, not the house LAN IP. And the wifi and LAN of the Vera3 isn’t on my local network, but has its own network. So basically its 4 ports and wifi are useless.

I just did a “factory reset” and it appears to still be doing the same thing. I don’t know how to figure out its network since other than to click on “Manually configure” and look at what is there.

Is there a way to get it into the mode that it is not a router? The mode that it should be doing automatically, but isn’t.

I am sure this has been answered before, but I searched and looked and the Wiki and can’t figure out what to do. I’ve already wasted so much time on this device it is ridiculous. Not to mention the Captchas and all to just post are pretty ridiculous as well.

I will have my Vera 3 soon and will help you figure this out. Try plugging your lan cable into one of the lan ports(not the wan port) and turn off the dhcp server on the Vera. This will allow it to hand out wireless ips from you existing router.

This has been discussed in several other posts. You can not have Vera’s lan ports work on the same network as your router without some modification of the Vera network settings under the hood. And that is considered experimental.

Interesting, didn’t know that. That is unfortunate as it is usually an easy way to just use a router as an ap.
