Vera3 vs. Vera lite

I’m new to the forum and I’m sure this has been answered somewhere. I have ADT Pulse and don’t like how you are very limited to what you can ass to it. I’m looking at getting a Vera. I have a new wireless router that I am going to continue to use. My question is, do I buy the Vera3 or the Lite? I plan on setting up an extensive automation network.

It depends on how extensive… Your network of zwave devices and plugins gets.

It sounds like your planning on going big… So a vera 3 is not a bad choice.
But, if you have a large home, multiple vera lites may be a better idea … For zwave coverage.

Memory is the most precious resource on a Vera.
You can add a good number of Z-Wave devices to a Vera Lite. Z-Wave devices do not use much memory.
But if you use Plugins the memory starts to get used quickly. And there are a lot of useful plugins.

I would suggest that you get a Vera 3 … ignore the router … the memory is what you want! It has twice the memory as a Vera Lite.

I know this sounds bit off topic. But you may want to hold off buying a Vera at this time because new line of Vera Controllers with UI6 is about to be pushed to the market. Check this link, Micasaverde présente ses nouvelles Veras - Blog Domadoo
