Hi out there. I’m a Vera 3 newbie but have some technical skills. I need some help figuring this out.
Okay I erased everything I wrote but instead I now have a complaint about manually adding and IP Camera.
On one page it says ‘enter the URL blah blah’ to get a snapshot.
On the next page it says ’ enter the URL blah blah’ to get a snapshot and also enter the username and password.
I’m thinking one of the ‘URL’ options needs to be the IP address and the other the path like ‘/snapshot.cgi’. I spent hours and hours trying to get Vera3 to see my camera and the setup is a disaster.
Also when I think I finally entered the info in what it was looking for the image it showed is a broken link graphic like it still can’t find the picture, but if you still add it then you can go into the camera settings and put the ip and URL in the correct spots.
me too…
i have the vera2 with UI5.
i can veiw my camera with the ip camera tool plugged into my router.
when i ‘add a device’ i put in the relevent IP address, them the URL ‘/snapshot.cgi’ and the user name ‘admin’… all i get is ‘unable to connect with camera’
what am i doing wrong??? someone help, i feel a murderous rage coming on… LOL.
First I would enter the snapshot path ino a browser to verify your path and port are okay, like
192.168.1.10/snapshot.cgi
If you get a good picture then put that whole address into both URL fields in the MIos add an ip camera setup. You will not see a pic but add it anyway. Once you have it added then go into its properties and put the ip address and URL in the right spots. It should work after that.
To get the camera to move using Vera is another story…
thank you all for your advice… please be patient with me, im new to this and learning.
i have the following:
ip address ; 192.168.1.68:8005
url ; ‘/snapshot.cgi’
it has popped up as a device on my dashboard, but it says the URL is invalid??? my camera is a foscan fI8905w, plugged into the router at the moment (not wireless at mo).
Can you see the camera image in your browser if you type 192.168.1.68:8005/snapshot.cgi into the address field? If not, there’s a problem with the URL. Some cameras use video.cgi or a .jpg URL - try experimenting a bit.
then it asks for ‘Or, if your camera is not on the list, paste the URL which returns a JPG file in the box below:’
it then asks 'What type of camera is it? panasonic ip or generic ip??
Or, if your camera is not on the list, paste the URL which returns a JPG file in the box below:
Not sure if you are still having problems, but saw this thread and I was having the same issues w/ Foscam & Vera. Check my post in the following thread for a Manual/Create Device option that adds the camera through the Develop Apps menu vs the normal “Add IP Camera” manual option…
