I am currently running a Ver3 UI5 setup and am considering adding a Vera Edge (UI7). Is it possible to run them both at the same time?
Cheers
Sure you can. However a Z-Wave device can only be included on one of the 2 Vera’s. Not on both. You can use http calls and either the Virtual Panel plugin or the Multiswitch one to have both ‘talk’ to eachother and set a switch on either of these plugins that can be used as a trigger on one Vera and set by the other one. Or use http calls to directly runs scenes on teh one from the other.
I’ve been doing this for several months with 2 Vera 3’s.
Thanks. Don’t fully understand the detail of your reply but will try and research
You can create a scene on Vera A and in the LUUP part have it start a scene on Vera B.

(Method 1 would work for this)
You can also have Vera B set a button on eg a Virtual Panal or Multiswitch on Vera A. Which Vera A can use as a trigger for a scene.

You haven’t really said how exactly you plan to use it. But they don’t really play well with each other. In order for them to fully play nice it’s called bridging. The process of bridging shares all devices from one vera in the other to use in scenes and to a certain extent look like one big vera.
Bridging only works when on the same UI and currently doesn’t work yet on an EDGE. So nothing can BRIDGE with an EDGE yet.
What BOFH is saying is they you can have 2 veras running on the same home network in the same home, different home, different state doesn’t matter and use other ways of one talking to another. It will not be as easy creating a single scene but just like your phone can call and talk to vera you can send http or web commands from one vera to call and check on or do something to another vera. Requires a bit more work.
If you want to keep separate and use one app to control both from your phone you can also do that. Alot of apps support more then one vera and you can even but two buttons side by side in a app that work lights (or anything) for two different veras. Basically the app combines the veras.
Again as BOFH said a z-wave device can only pair, include, communicate with one controller.
Tell us more what you want to do and we can give you better ideas or more info on how or if it will work.
Thanks again for the responses. At this stage I really want to use the Vera UI7 as a fall - back until the Edge UI7 is more stable. I hope that makes sense?
Sorry, that should read Vera3 UI5
Not really gonna work. Either your devices are on one or on the other. If you have a few devices that you don’t use much you can throw them on ui7 and test in that environment.
But lets say you want to try out the edge you need to remove all your devices from ui5 (exclude) and include them into ui7 EDGE. Transferring back and forth on the fly doesn’t work and you can have devices in both.
I went threw the ui5 to ui7 upgrade on two vera lites. I needed to as my memory was runing low and causing more issues then ui7 is.
Actually now I’m quite happy with the edge. It’s no worse then the lite on ui5. my devices all work in ui7.
For you on a vera 3 I don’t see much if any of an upgrade tho going to the edge.
