I have tried to setup a scene where an outside lights turn on at sunset and off at sunrise using the schedule option
for reasons I cannot deciminate , the lights want to turn on at 13:07 and off at 1:00 (as of todays posting)
In setup / location, I have “North Dakota / Center” chosen as timezone so its off by 5 hours, is this a bug?
Does Vera’s Dashboard show the time correctly?
Have you tried with another location, i.e. city, that is appropriate for your timezone? This topic came to mind, which may or may not be related.
Settle down, this is a global forum and not everyone is awake when you are. Bumping your posts in less than 24 hours just comes across as selfish.
Having a correct timezone isn’t sufficient for computing sunrise/set times. You also have to have a correct location. Check your latitude/longitude on the same setup page. Does it look right?
I have the Google Weather app installed - which I have not yet been able to get to work - it gives me the following message…
“GoogleWeather : Location not established in MiOS Preferences/Toolbox, Latitude and Longitude required for Plugin to work.”
as I stated in the above post, I have entered the lat and long several times, and as far as this error message…I have no idea where the “preferences/toolbox” is - i’m thinking google weather is designed for vera 2 (never seen it - could be wrong), but it’s coincidental that the lat and long issue is a concern for both problems, so what might I be doing wrong here?
this is my first Vera product as well as being new to all this z-wave stuff.
Be absolutely sure that you are saving your location after you enter your latitude and longitude. The UI for Vera has been accused of not being intuitive, so it’s possible that you don’t realize that you are not saving the values that you enter.
Your reported sunrise and sunset times are consistent with Latitude 0°, Longitude 0°. That and the Google Weather error message (thanks for posting that additional information) both point to an unsaved default location.
There is two aspect that have arisen in the past. The location is not saving correctly or not set correctly. Both are normally resolved by changing the details in the location tab to a different location, saving and then changing it again to your location. For first time users it is not clear that setting the time is different to setting physical location, I am not inferring this is your issue but trying to ensure we cover all bases.
When setting the location, I was selecting the timezone and manually entering the long and lat.
When I followed the example in the image - by entering the region/state/city, vera took over and filled in the long and lat and now the times for the scenes show correctly!
It should work now - thanks so much you guys!!!
