Vera3 notification quota

So I just got a notification and also it told me it is my last notification because my quota has been reached ?

I didnt know there was a cap on notifications
???

If you log in to cp.mios.com and click on Settings next to your device, there are email and SMS maximum notifications per day. You can change these values. I expect that they are there in case you have something that runs too often and sends a lot of notifications. This prevents you from being overloaded with texts or emails.

Ahhhh thanks… yeah I actually have a dimmer that keeps turning on for some reason… so I set up a notification.

I removed and re added it … other wise I have a Leviton to replace the GE with

But, thanks for the info!!!

Being new to all this, i was getting confused by the instruction above about where to go to find and change these settings.

In UI5 on my VeraLite, I think i’ve found them under Account/My Contact Info.

However when I changed the email value from 20 to 50 and then choose ‘Save My Contact Info’, i get the following error message come up…

Invalid Data Recieved

Any ideas why?

You must click Update notifications limit after changing the limit.

Is this valid for all country?

I m swiss and I cannot change the SMS limit with more than 1.

Thank you
Matteo

I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?henjgx

Yes. The SMS limit is fixed, but the Email-to-SMS limit is not.

Hi McvFlorin,

I had indeed missed the Update Notification Limit, however after pressing that and then ‘Save My Contact Info’ I not only still received the same error, but I now cannot access ‘My Contact Info’ again

Https//fwd2.mios.com
Invalid Data Recieved.

instead it shows me the Automation page, with has my Scenes on? I can click on Change Passwords, My Alerts etc and the page changes, but back to ‘My Contact Info’ it again just shows my Automation Scenes page ?

Help ?

Another point of interest is that when moving along the line of options the Tech Support / Remote Acess option had been enabled, which I never set, it was always disabled ! I have disabled it again, but that is a concern. Oh and on the ‘Other Users’ tab, it now shows a message ‘error adding user’ which again i did not do

OK - logging off and back on again seems to have fixed it.

Thanks for your help

It would be interesting to hear if any others have the same or a similar problem when adjusting their quotes/contact info.

Yes. The SMS limit is fixed, but the Email-to-SMS limit is not.[/quote]

What is the difference between Email (or SMS) with Email-to-SMS? How can I activate it (i have a flag for SMS or Email, not for Email-to-SMS.

Thank you
Matteo

I believe what MCVFlorin means by Email-to-SMS is to have the email field use the sms address for your phone. for example to send an sms message via email to a sprint phone would be:

phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com

Each Phone company is different.

Hi

Since changing the notification value, I no longer receive any notifications.

The last one I got was the one to say that I had hit my quota !?

I intially thought it was because I had implemented some scenes with schedules so the sensor devices are armed at 11pm and disarmed at 7am, but I’ve now disabled all triggers and schedules but still no notifications come through

Looking at just the device sensors themselves, both are armed and both have Notification set against them for both the sensor being tripped and when armed and tripped?

Hi All, i am having the same problem. my SMS limit are fixed at 2 only for Malaysia. I was not able to make any change. and there are no any email to sms services provided by my telco.

any possible way to increase the SMS limit? 2 is not reasonable as it will easily exceed the daily quota. thanks

If you have an iPhone you could look at Automator App which includes unlimited push notifications. As my carrier (Telstra ) does not allow SMS to email unless you use there paid service the app was the best option and the mobile
Interface work a treat.

Hi Brientim,

I am currently using Prowl push application and it works a charm.
however, the reason that i would want to able to SMS because most of the time I am travelling and not everywhere will have internet coverage.

i checked with my telco service provider and they do not support email to SMS as well.

any possible to get Vera to have more then 2 SM notification?

Unfortunately not.

If your cell carrier allows it, you can use the email address of your phone to send you text messages. This will remove the text limit. You will need to figure out what the text message address is of your phone. For example, sprint would be 55512345678@messaging.sprintpcs.com.

All,
I am having the same issue, that my provider doesn’t have email to sms (Telstra)
I think MIOS team should find the solution to this. As one of the advantage using the system is , it’s ability to send sms. I don’t think our telephone provider even care about this lack of service that they don’t provide.

You’ll have to understand that it cost MCV for the texting service. Reason why there is a limit. Have you looked at the push notification plugin.

@kardif,

Welcome!

Having a higher SMS limit would probably require some sort of paid option, given the current number of Vera users. (The limit was higher a while back). There are some other notification options though, documented here by the forum. For example, Prowl for iOS devices.
