I’m an AV integrator by trade, and we carry both MCV and ProControl systems. I personally have both in my home. I like the customization options of the Vera3 system and its relatively easy configuration, and I really like the sleek appearance of the ProControl remotes and their custom programming features for use with iPad via the ProPanel app. I would like to integrate them to function as one system, and build a unique home automation system I can offer my clients.
ProControl is a relatively new product line from RTI. We have access to all the units programming features via the Pro Control Studio software. The ProControl z series controls have dual two-way RS232 over Ethernet ports for control of serial devices. By adding the Leviton Vizia RF+ Serial Adapter, the ProControl Processor can function as a z-wave controller for lights, locks, blinds, etc. My question is this, through the use of the serial z-wave adapter, can the ProControl Processor communicate with the Vera3 (or multiple Vera units), and control all the Z-Wave devices associated with it? This would involve sending the command from the remote or iPad app, to the processor, from the processor to the Vera unit via the serial interface. Is this possible? ProControl has given me no response.
The main reason I’m anxious to learn about this is because the ProControl processors have no expansion options for additional coverage. You can only use one processor per system, two or more processors can’t be bridged. So this makes z-wave control in large homes impossible with the ProControl alone as the z-wave coverage area isn’t large enough. But if you could bridge multiple vera units to communicate with the single vera unit connected to the ProControl processor, problem solved.
Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks.
