Vera 2 works great. I replaced my old Vera in July. Since July 21, 2010 it has been functioning perfectly with no more red cogwheels. That date will be like Christmas and Thanksgiving rolled into one for me. The old Vera had been giving me fits. Weeks rolled into months while I waited for Vera 2 with my fingers crossed. After I received it, I required some help from Micasaverde which I received graciously and courteously mainly from Ovidu, at technical support. He was patient and knew what he was doing. I probably needed more help than most. I have Parkinson’s disease, and I’m probably not playing with a full deck. Months ago, when I was more mobile, I installed most of my devices to help me as I become less mobile. I now spend a good deal of time in a chair - most of the time struggling to walk with a cane or walker. Vera and z-wave make my life easier. Thanks again to Ovidu - you’re my hero. And also a big thank you to Anne at Micasaverde who made sure when I needed help from them. support, I got it.
I had been using Dragon NaturallySpeaking, the voice recognition program, for dictation and to control my programs. More or less by accident I found that I could control my lights, thermostats, and IP cameras by voice. It doesn’t work with the findvera.com interface or the regular mobile interface. But it works great with the text-only WAP version at findvera.com/mobile. After entering my password and checking “remember me” I logged in. On the next page, appears my global scenes and rooms. I now use this as my homepage in Firefox. I simply say all or part of the name of the scene I want to run to activate it or the name of the room to go there. I, also, keep a bookmark in the Firefox toolbar which I have named “opus lights” which allows me to get to Vera2 quickly if I’m somewhere else on the web. To control the temperature easily, I have scenes for different thermostat setting. I will try to send along a JPEG of my printscreen.
