Vera1 to Vera2 - Not Primary controller

I received my Vera2 last week and decided to migrate from Vera1 to Vera2 based on the instructions here:

Overall, the devices and scenes came over just find, but I had some issues with a couple HA07 controllers. So I decided to drop them and add them back in. It wasn’t until I tried to add them back in that I discovered that the Vera2 was not the primary controller. (had physically removed the Vera1 at this point).

I’ve got an email in to support, but does anyone know how to make it a Primary controller without having to wipe and start over?

Which method did you use to migrate?

How did you “drop” the controllers? Did you exclude them first or just delete them?

I used the ‘official’ (#1) way via Controller Shift from Vera1 to Vera2.

Unfortunately, I just deleted the controllers because they somehow didn’t configure properly during the migration (realizing, of course, afterward, it would have been better to exclude). But I’m still puzzled as to why the Vera2 is not Primary and, moreso, how to make it Primary. Any insight is appreciated.

I’ve seen that problem posted else where here in the forum, personally I backed up my Vera 1 and restored to Vera 2 and took my Vera 1 out of service. That way everything should be identical or cloned which it was. Maybe thats something you could do to get backup and running or controller shift it again.

I dont know any other way to get you back to being the primary without starting over. I dont mean to exclude / install every device but just start over with the controller shift option.

As far as deleting Z-Wave devices its always best to exclude first, X-10 / Insteon you can just delete.

You might try restoring a backup for Vera1 and trying the migration again as @JOD suggests, but if you want to exclude everything and start over remember that you can always exclude/reset the devices using the Aeon Dongle by itself. Remove it from Vera, press and hold the button untill the light flashes rapidly, and then press the program button on the device and you should see the dongle respond with a skip in the blinking. Then just include/add everything back into Vera2 fresh.
