I connected vera to my home network. I am able to log on to the unit wireless and get to the internet, also if i connect thru one of the ethernet ports.
find vera is not able to locate the unit. I disconnected the unit from my home network, connected directly to my pc and I was able to access teh unit, I changed the network settings to no firewall (bridge only) and no dhcp. I have a cisco 2800 router providing the dhcp. Still no luck.
I have not been able to contact micasaverde support, i thought it was 24/7 for the first year, I emailed and left a voice message.
my vote is your cisco router is blocking something the vera needs.
I dont recall if there are any specical ports that the vera needs open- maybe searching the forum would aim you for port/firewall settings to fiddle with on the cisco?
Mine is connected to a Linksys router with no problems. Just make sure your Vera is set to auto.
Can you IP to the Vera settings? If not, plug directly to PC and set the Net and Wifi under Advanced to Automatically configure (recommended)
Here’s what I will do (assuming you enabled findvera in setup)
Two options pick one depending on your situation
Increase the ttl for DHCP OR create a mac address based DHCP OR assign static address to Vera. Once done note the IP and opt one of the following
Opt 1: Add Vera’s IP to DMZ
Opt 2 Pref: Port fwd from router (I did 80 and 443) to Vera’s IP
Opt 3: DDNS case you’re looking for slightly more complex solution by running a small daemon/service at one of your systems to keep DDNS entry updated for your external IP entry.
Sorry I lied for two options - there are three but simple and safe will be #2.
How to check:
Your external IP can be found using several serices like broadbandreports.comchicken.com etc etc
Use iPhone, disable wifi, open browser and http://
my 2c and no more specifically when you’re using a 2800
