I have read that there have been a few instances of Vera running slow, or slow to respond.
I experience, and it seems to be random, that the vera Lite slows down considerably,
I have several scenes for example, “Watch TV” which configures a number of lights, or a motion sensor that turns on a light via Vera. most of the time when a scene is triggered from an iPhone it is almost instant, cannot really measure the time it takes to process and other times i have measured delays in excess of two minutes. The interesting thing is that vera seems to remember all of the commands pressed or scenes enabled then processes them so it appears that vera has received the command but not able to issue the commands.
Not sure what app you’re using on your phone, but most apps use one of two connection methods to communicate with your Vera - one if you’re on the same local area network as your Vera, and another if you’re not. If you’re not on the same local area network, your phone has to connect to the Vera server and authenticate your username/password. This slows down communication. Is there any correlation between your performance issues and your phone’s internet connection method (i.e., wifi vs. 4G)?
Thanks for that i am local to the server and have several apps, inc the vera app its self, as well as homeware, most of the apps show you the connection status and that can take a variable amount of time to actually establish a connection as i write this the app is taking quite a long time to connect around 30s (normally a couple of seconds, then i select the room and for example turn off the light in the room i am in now - nothing happens. I sent a command to change a scene on the kitchen maybe 10 minuets ago and still that has not executed.
I have now just figured out how to login to the vera as root and am trying to get some cpu performance statistics, it feels like the CPU is busy doing something but i am not sure what as there has been nobody here for hours and the only thing i am trying to do i turn on a few lights in the kitchen
just thought i would post an update, the system would not respond even in the UI, logged in as root and ran top did not show and process using a significant amount of CPU time, restarted the box (power cycle) and all if good now, touch the icon on the iPhone and light device (light) reacts straight away.
