For some reason – which I’d appreciate your insights toward solving – my VeraPlus shows “0 Watts” for the HVAC unit even while it’s running. When I entered the “Energy Usage” (3200)** for my Wayne Dalton Thermostat, I tacitly assumed it would be used by Vera to calculate kWh in real time.
I even checked the Thermostat’s “Variables” section and confirm “Status” = “1” while the air conditioner is running. If Vera isn’t using that information, what’s the point of entering the “Energy Usage” figure for this device?
Any insights about what’s going on here?
Thanks, everyone - Libra
**NOTE: I directly monitored the ON (3.5 kW) vs. OFF (0.3 kW) energy of my whole house using a Zigbee unit issued by my local electricity provider, and entered the difference.
